Cameco Releases Yeelirrie PER for Public Review

All, September 21, 2015

Cameco (TSX: CCO; NYSE: CCJ) has released the Public Environmental Review (PER) documentation for its Yeelirrie uranium project, located in the Shire of Wiluna in the Northern Goldfields region of Western Australia.

The PER outlines how Cameco proposes to responsibly develop the Yeelirrie project, subject to favourable market conditions and a development decision in the future. It presents baseline studies and management of environmental factors including flora and fauna, water, dust and radiation management as well as transport and engineering matters. The PER includes all the information required for the state and federal governments to assess the project.

The PER is an important part of the environmental assessment process and the public review period is an opportunity for interested parties to review and comment on Cameco's proposal.

The PER is available for public review for a period of 12 weeks, from 21 September to 14 December 2015 and submissions can be made to Western Australia's Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (OEPA).

Once the public review period has closed, Cameco will prepare a response to the public submissions, which will be considered by the EPA as it prepares its report and recommendations on the project to the Minister for Environment.

Cameco Australia Managing Director Brian Reilly said the company is taking prudent steps to prepare the Yeelirrie project for improved market conditions.

"We are advancing Yeelirrie through the environmental assessment process so that we are ready to respond should the market signal a need for more uranium," Mr Reilly said.

"The public review phase is a significant step in the environmental assessment process and the culmination of extensive community consultation and rigorous environmental and technical studies.

It is also an important part of ensuring communities and stakeholders understand fully Cameco's development plans. We will continue to consult and build strong relationships with our stakeholders as we progress the Yeelirrie project."

Yeelirrie is 100 per cent owned by Cameco, one of the world's largest uranium producers. The uranium deposit is estimated to contain total measured and indicated resources of 127.3 million pounds (36,640 thousand tonnes at 0.16% U3O8).
